My 5 Simple Winter Self-Care Routine Tips

Making self-care part of my routine is such a must to survive the holiday bustle and the cold weather. From Christmas parties to work events to playing outdoors, this season can take a toll on the body and the mind. To avoid holiday stress, I’ve decided to start a new winter self-care routine. I’ve never been big on skin care remedies, but after using the products below, I now get what the fuss is all about! Using them has made such a big difference in my health and my wellness.

With all the fantastic opportunities and collaborations that have come my way in the last few months, this season couldn't have been more perfect to start a winter self-care routine.

Self-care routine #1: Apply some hand balm before bed

For many years, my hands have suffered from dryness during the winter. I'd always have to reapply lotion throughout the day. But this year, I was very lucky to have won an incredible Rituals Advent Calendar from Wranglingtheles’s giveaway and discovered my new favorite skincare product, The Ritual of Dao Night Balm. I did not even know hand balms existed until this year! Honestly, I could not go a night without using this stuff.

Self-care routine tip #2: Moisturize daily

Winter always leaves my skin feeling dry and tight. So, every day after I shower, I’d apply lotion on. But sometimes body lotions wouldn’t be enough to keep my skin moisturized, so I’ve been carrying The Ritual of Sakura Body Cream. This body cream is absolutely incredible. It keeps my skin feeling soft and smooth, plus it smells terrific! It has natural ingredients of Rice Milk and Cherry that brings a sweet scent to my body. It also has a unique blend of antioxidants, Vitamin E and Centella Asiatica, which helps strengthen the skin.

Self-care routine tip #3: Use an eye cream every night

With all of the late nights, I’ve been having, using an eye cream has become an essential step to my nighttime routine. I’ve recently started using a Korean product called Dewycel Eye Plus Cream – and I love it! It’s very light and smooth – plus it prevents me from looking like a walking zombie, as it lightens the dark circles under my eyes. Also, it has beneficial ingredients such as Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, and Olive Oil.

Self-care routine tip #4: Have a spa day at home every week

Having a spa day at home for myself is probably my favorite self-care routine. I usually take a few hours to wind down and recharge after a long week.

First, I’d set a relaxing ambiance by lighting up a candle. I’ve been using Rituals candles these past few weeks, but I recently received a luxury candle called Diptyque Paris Baies – so I’m really excited to use that next! Both have a VERY lovely scent that’s just perfect for a spa day at home.

Then I'd take a bath and finish off with Beauty Kitchen by Heather Marianna’s Black Tie Affair Skin Polish. This scrub makes my skin so velvety soft, that I sometimes don’t put that much body lotion on. Afterward, I'd put just a little bit of Diptyque Paris L’Ombre Dans L’eau perfume on to enhance my mood.

Self-care routine tip #5: Take a nap!

With all of the holiday festivities I’ve committed to, it has been a little challenging to get a good night’s rest. So, to make up for it, I’d take a short 20-30 minute-nap between work and events. This helps boost my energy, and more importantly, it helps rejuvenate my skin! According to HealthLine.com, “one of the biggest secrets to better skin was as simple as laying down and taking a nap!” Needless to say, it is the most essential self-care routine I’ve been practicing.

I highly recommend these self-care routines to all of the busy bees out there! Carving a little "ME" time out of a jam-packed week is not only beneficial to your skin but also your overall health and wellness.
