Mexican Independence Day Activities to Check Out with Family and Friends x FSLV

Viva Mexico! Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with live entertainment, mariachi music, and flavorful food at Fashion Show Las Vegas (FSLV). A big part of honoring this day is spending it with your family and friends. That's why I'm excited to share Fashion Show Las Vegas' can't-miss shows and specials.

Before you indulge in tacos and margaritas, here are a few things you should know about one of Mexico's most significant holidays. Many people mistake Mexican Independence Day for Cinco De Mayo, so it's essential to learn the history behind this holiday. 

  • Mexican Independence Day is not celebrated on May 5th, but on September 16th. 

  • Mexico was under Spanish rule for three centuries and it was known as the "New Spain." Before 1809, many rebels were captured by the Spanish Government.

  • A priest named Miguel Hidalgo led the war of independence in 1810. He rang the bells of his church at 11 p.m. on September 15th and recited The Cry of Dolores speech - and the revolt against the Spanish began. 

Ok, class is dismissed! It's time to join the celebrations at FSLV today. Here are the can’t miss Mexican Independence Day activities to check out with your family and friends:

Dancing Piñata Show

Experience a magical and energizing dancing piñata show all month long in FSLV's Great Hall. The show will run from now until September 30th. 


Roaming Live Entertainment 

Get ready for a quick trip to Mexico on September 16th–19th. Between 1–4 p.m., FSLV will have a live parade for all guests to enjoy. Catch the mariachi bands and folklórico dancers at the Great Hall and follow them out to The Plaza for more music, dancing, and culture.


Mexican Independence Day Fashion Show

Continue the celebrations throughout the week by attending FSLV's magnificent runway show on Sunday, September 19th, at 2 p.m.. This complimentary fashion show will feature vibrant looks from Macy's, a mariachi band, and wonderful dancers.

El Segundo Sol’s Delicious Specials

This holiday will not be complete without eating authentic Mexican food from El Segundo Sol. Guests will receive complimentary chips and salsa when they spend $250 at FSLV (Must show your receipts).
